The 2 band Enfield Short Rifle was a percussion-lock rifle used extensively by both the North and South in the Civil War.
It was generally well regarded for its accuracy and reliability. It was also used by British infantry of the period.
The original was made at the British Government armoury at Enfield, near London, the muzzle-loading rifle had a blued finish to help prevent rusting and fired a .577 calibre conical ball.
