Zireael was a 200 year old gwyhyr, a very expensive and precious sword, forged by the gnomes of Tir Tochair. It was gifted to Ciri by Esterhazy, a very noted sword salesman, when she had been captured by Leo Bonhart. The name of the sword in Elder Speech meant "swallow".
